Sabrina DeSousa v. Department of State et al.

Former Foreign Service Officer Sabrina DeSousa sued the Department of State in May 2009 to force the U.S. Government to envelop her in a cloak of diplomatic immunity in order to have protection from Italian criminal and civil proceedings filed against her for the 2003 rendition of Abu Omar. Ms. DeSousa was convicted by the Italian court in November 2009, and a First Amended Complaint has been filed, but is still awaiting approval from the Court, adding the Central Intelligence Agency and certain individuals as defendants.
